Conservation Commission
The Conservation Commission may prepare a program for conservation and open space utilization for the city which is based upon the research and evaluation of the natural resources within the city. The commission shall prepare, adopt, and as appropriate, review and amend, a conservation and open space plan for the city. This plan may include a natural resource inventory, which describes open areas, swamps and wetlands, and areas of unique natural value or ecological importance within the city. Such plan may make recommendations relative to the proper utilization and development of open space and related natural resources of the city. The commission shall inform itself of the ways and means by which its plans and programs may be achieved and shall advise the city council, municipal agencies, private groups and interests, and the general public of the manner in which these plans and programs may be carried out.
