Voter Registration and Information


Registering to vote allows you to participate in the local, school, state and federal election process. The City of Claremont has three voting wards and the polls are open from 8:00AM to 7:00PM on Election Day.

WHERE AND WHEN DO I REGISTER TO VOTE?

In person at the City Clerk’s Office, 58 Opera House Square, Monday - Thursday from 7:00 AM - 4:45 PM, up to 10 days prior to an election.

In person at a session of the Supervisors of the Checklist. Meeting information is posted in the newspaper prior to the session.

In person at the polling place on Election Day, 8:00am-7:00pm.

Absentee registration is allowed for residents who are temporarily absent from the City (such as college student or overseas citizens) and residents who are physically disabled and unable to appear in person.

WHAT DOCUMENTATION DO I NEED FOR VOTER REGISTRATION?

  • To Register to Vote, you must prove your identity/age, citizenship and residency. The following documents can be used for proof

TO PROVE IDENTITY/AGE:

  • Driver’s License
  • Birth Certificate
  • Passport
  • Government issued photo identification
  • Qualified voter affidavit

TO PROVE CITIZENSHIP:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Passport
  • Naturalization papers
  • Qualified voter affidavit

TO PROVE RESIDENCY:

  • Driver’s License with Claremont address printed on the front
  • Vehicle Registration
  • Current dated Rent Receipt, pay stub, utility bill
  • Bank Statement

Absentee ballots are now available in the City Clerk’s Office.
 
September 3rd (Tuesday) - Last day to register to vote in the City Clerk’s Office during normal business hours.
 
September 4th (Wednesday) 7pm-7:30pm – Supervisor of the Checklist Session at City Hall – Last day to register to vote and make any changes prior to the State Primary Election, NO party change allowed
 
September 9th (Monday) – Last day to apply for and return Absentee Ballots in person
 
September 10th (Tuesday) – State Primary polls are open 8:00am-7:00pm.  Last day to accept Absentee Ballots returned by mail.

CITY OF CLAREMONT - PUBLIC NOTICE
VOTER REGISTRATION & CORRECTION
 
The Supervisors of the Checklist will be in session on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from 7pm to 7:30pm in the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, for the purpose of registering new voters and making corrections to the voter checklist.  
This is the last day to make changes for the State Primary Election to be held on September 10, 2024.  
NO change in party affiliation may be accepted.
