Sullivan County Trails Plan Available for Public Comment
August 29, 2023
Public Input Requested thru 9/30/23
Upper Valley Lake Sunapee Regional Planning Commission (UVLSRPC) announced the publication of the Sullivan County Trails Plan and that it is available for public comment.
Recognizing that trails provide recreational, environmental, health, and economic benefits to the region, the Sullivan County Board of Commissioners contracted with UVLSRPC to analyze, inventory, and make recommendations about all trails within the county. Using federal ARPA funds approved by the Sullivan County Delegation, the project collected data about all known trails in the county and reached out to trail maintenance groups. A public survey was conducted in Spring 2023 to gauge public perceptions and collect input, while several public forums were held during that time. Based on the findings of the survey and forums and combined with the data collection of trails in Sullivan County, UVLSRPC developed a framework of four categories based around Coordination, Construction, Cooperation, and Creating Opportunities for protecting the trail networks as important recreational, natural, and economic assets for the county.
A copy of the report is available for public review HERE. To best ensure accurate information, community engagement, and quality data, UVLSRPC is accepting public comment via the form on the website through September 30, 2023.
