City of Claremont Taps Mr. Ed Morris as New City Manager
Claremont, NH- At the conclusion of its regular city council meeting on Wednesday July 24, 2019, the Claremont City Council voted unanimously to extend a Conditional Offer of Employment as Claremont City Manager to Mr. Ed Morris. He is presently Town Manager for the town of Weathersfield, VT.
A City Manager Search Committee was formed earlier in the year to search for qualified applicants for the city manager position. The Search Committee, consisting originally of 3, later to become 4, city councilors, 2 city department heads, and 5 community members, received over 50 applications. The Committee ultimately chose 4 candidates to interview in person. Members of the committee and city councilors interviewed the 4 chosen applicants and from that process Mr. Morris was chosen and the offer was extended on July 25. The offer is conditional upon a background search and contract negotiations being successfully completed. Allen Damren, Claremont’s Assistant Mayor and Chair of the Search Committee, praised all members of the Search Committee. “It was a long process with many steps and committee members kept on task and worked very well as a group, “stated Damren.
Mr. Morris has been the Town Manager for Weathersfield for 3 and a half years. Prior to this position, he was a career firefighter for the City of Twin Falls, Idaho for over 16 years and also served a year as Assistant to the City Manager (intern) in Jerome, Idaho. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration, concentration in Finance, from Colorado Technical University and a Master of Public Affairs degree from the University of Missouri’s Harry S. Truman School of Public Affairs.
Mr. Morris and his wife, Megan, reside in Weathersfield and are the parents of 2 children- one presently in college and one entering college this fall.
