Celebrate New Hampshire Eat Local Month
With The Claremont Farmers’ Market

During the month of August, the Claremont Farmers’ Market joins with 70+ partners throughout the state to highlight New Hampshire Eat Local Month – a month-long celebration of local food and New Hampshire farmers and producers.  NH Eat Local Month also coincides with National Farmers’ Market Week (August 5-11), honoring farmers’ markets all across America.
“New Hampshire residents and visitors alike are showing unprecedented interest in local food, and this month-long celebration offers a great opportunity to feature New Hampshire grown foods and farms,” said Gail McWilliam Jellie from the New Hampshire Department of Agriculture, Markets & Food.
“Shopping at the Farmers’ Market, especially during August, provides a chance for residents and visitors to show their support for the local farmers and producers of the foods they eat,” said Debbie Tardiff, Coordinator of the Claremont Farmers’ Market.  “During August, our farmers/producers will offer specials such as buy one get one ½ off, or buy 2 get 1 free,” Tardiff stated.
New Hampshire Eat Local Month is a statewide celebration of farmers and local food producers throughout the month of August.  Promotions of this year’s NH Eat Local Month are in collaboration with the New Hampshire Department of Agriculture, Markets & Food, Monadnock Buy Local and Seacoast Eat Local.  Find more information at www.nheatlocal.org and www.facebook.com/nheatlocal.

Support Local Vendors & Strengthen the Local Economy
The mission of the Claremont Farmers Market is to promote local agriculture, build community, and strengthen the local economy by providing a venue where local farmers, producers, crafters, and artisans come together to provide a variety of fresh produce and related products directly to the consumer in a fun and friendly community event.

Market Programs
The POP (Power of Produce) children's program will begin on June 30th for 8 weeks through August 18th. During market hours, Saturdays 9-1, we will have activities for children geared toward ages 5-12, but all are welcome, such as taste testings, scavenger hunts, questions to ask farmers, etc. to help kids learn about healthy eating. They will 'earn' POP bucks for completing the activities with which they can then purchase fresh fruits and vegetables.

The market will promote Debit and SNAP EBT at the market with a central market terminal. In addition, the market supports Granite State Market Match, which matches EBT dollars spent at the market (up to $10.00). Customers shopping with their EBT cards will be eligible to receive up to $10.00 in matching funds to spend on fruits and vegetables at the market.

Interested in Vending?
The market application process is open and we are looking for vendors. Review the Market Rules & Regulations and download the Market Vendor Application Form. We are also booking live music for each market and looking for opportunities to partner with other community organizations.
