DPW SEASONAL POSITIONS

The City of Claremont is accepting applications for seasonal positions in the Department of Public Works. Individuals will be required to use powered equipment such as lawn mowers and weed wackers and must be able to perform physical duties such as raking and lifting.  Must be 18 years of age.

Seasonal hours are 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Mon. – Fri, weather permitting.  Hourly wages are $9.00-$15.00.  Candidates must successfully complete pre-employment requirements which include criminal background checks, physical and drug screen.

ADMINISTRATIVE SECRETARY  (Part-Time)

The Claremont Police Department is seeking a highly motivated person to serve as part-time Administrative Secretary to assist the City’s Prosecutor. The individual will be performing highly responsible clerical and record-keeping duties, requiring extensive knowledge of computers and working knowledge of office practices. Public Works Employee Skilled Labor

The City of Claremont is accepting applications and resumes for full time skilled laborer for the Department of Public Works.  If you are a person who enjoys challenges, growth and advancement, you may be the person we are looking for.  Applicants must possess knowledge of highway and utility maintenance, and have the ability to perform strenuous and physical work for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.   The work schedule may fluctuate between a Tues.-Sat., and/or Mon. – Fri. workweek. Mandatory overtime may be required.

Must be able to qualify and obtain a CDL Class B license within 12 months of employment.

Chief Assessor ~ Assessing Department

The City of Claremont, New Hampshire is seeking an experienced professional for the position of Chief Assessor, with emphasis on commercial appraising. Claremont a community of (aprx.) 13,400 citizens and 5500 +/- parcels borders Vermont and is surrounded by the beauty of the mountains.

This position will be responsible for setting and defending property values for residential, commercial, and industrial properties. Knowledge of utility assessments is a plus but not required. Other responsibilities include managing the assessment and appraisal functions, maintaining the property tax list, maintaining and updating the GIS mapping system, providing appraisal support to the city administration staff, and educating and informing the citizens on the assessment process.  This position is appointed by the City Manager and reports directly to the City Manager.

Interested candidates should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, real estate, or related field with 5 years of relevant experience which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities, of the position.  In addition, DRA Certified Property Assessor Supervisor Approval, and Certified New Hampshire Assessor Designation required or attainable within the one year probationary period.  Candidates must possess proficient mathematic skills, communication skills (written & oral), and computer technology skills – familiarity with Vision CAMA System & ESRI Products a plus! The City of Claremont will be contracting with a firm to undertake a full re-evaluation in fiscal year 2019.

This is a position pays $81,237 enhanced with an excellent benefits package including, vacation time, sick time, personal time, health plan, dental, enrollment into the NH retirement system, 3 tax deferred opt. retirement plans, and more!

COMMUNICATION SPECIALISTS / PART-TIME 

The Claremont Police Dept. is looking for part time Communication Specialists.  Communications Specialists are responsible for answering emergency and non-emergency phone calls and dispatching information via radio to police, fire, emergency medical services, and other emergency services.  Other responsibilities include maintaining a log of all calls received including the nature of the call, location, and applicable response information.  Communication Specialists serve as receptionists at the Claremont Police Dept. as well as performing a variety of clerical duties.  The selected candidates must posses the abilities to communicate and interact well, effectively, and efficiently with the public, as well as with other staff and agencies that are responsible for responding to the situation.  Selected candidates must also posses the abilities to think and act quickly while remaining calm and calming others, to focus on the immediate situation and act accurately under stressful emergency and non-emergency situations. Individuals must be team players with strong communications, computer and keyboarding skills! 

Part time wage range is $7.25 to $14.00 per hour.

LIFEGUARDS

Parks & Recreation Department is seeking to fill the position(s) of Lifeguards. Life guarding responsibilities include monitoring participant's safety in the pool, maintenance of the pool, pool area, and locker rooms, maintaining records of pool usage, chemical testing and maintaining proper water balances in the pool.
The successful candidate must be a proficient swimmer. Prior lifeguard experience preferred but will train qualified individuals. The selected candidate must successfully pass pre-employment requirements of a physical, drug screening, and criminal background search.
Wages start at $7.25 per hour through $12.00 depending upon experience. Hours of work may vary depending upon the staffing needs of the department.
CERTIFICATIONS:
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (or equivalent)
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer
