This position will assist the City Tax Collector/City Clerk with maintaining all operations of the Central Collections office and assume the position of the City Tax Collector/City Clerk in her absence, and/or as needed. Honesty, integrity, accuracy and attention to detail a must. The selected individual must possess the necessary diplomatic skills required with serving the public while maintaining a calm, professional manner. Three years of experience in an office environment with extensive knowledge of record management, accounting, and typing required, Associates Degree preferred.

CEMETERY FOREMAN

This position functions as the cemetery sexton and is responsible for the supervision, operation and maintenance of the cemetery grounds, structures and appurtenances, as well as the opening of graves and laying of foundations for headstones. This employee will also be responsible for the maintenance and care of all property and equipment used by the cemetery division and perform all other functions as required. Mandatory overtime will apply to weekends, holidays, and extensions of the day for the purpose of burials. This employee must work with funeral directors, vault & monument installers and office staff, locate new lots and individual grave sites, be a heavy equipment operator and hold a CDL B license. This is a union position and will pay $19.76 per hour in January 2015.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS

The Assistant Director of Public Works is a senior manager in the Department of Public Works.  The Assistant Director is directly or indirectly accountable through subordinate supervisors for all highway, water, sewer, solid waste, and cemetery personnel and answers to the Director of Public Works.  The Assistant Director is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all of the divisions of the Public Works operations.  This position assists in the planning, directing, managing and overseeing the activities and operations of the Public Works Department including engineering, traffic, development review, street maintenance, fleet maintenance,  cemetery division, wastewater and storm-water drainage systems maintenance; water and wastewater management as well as oversight of water & sewer contract operations; manages and coordinates assigned activities with other departments and outside agencies; and performs related duties as required.
Education/Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering, business administration, public administration or a related field ; OR any equivalent combination of experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Experience:
  • Ten (10) years’ experience in highway construction, maintenance, water distribution and sewer collection system, three (3) years of which should have been in a significant supervisory position;
  • OR any equivalent combination of experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • License or Certificate: Possession of a certificate of registration as a Professional Engineer is desirable. Possession of an appropriate, valid driver’s license.

PUBLIC WORKS -- MECHANIC (Waste Water)

The City of Claremont has a full time position for an equipment mechanic. This position requires ability to do preventative maintenance, diagnoses problems and make necessary repairs to all City equipment (large and small/both fixed and rolling stock), as required. Highly skilled welding and fabrication duties are required at multiple levels, changing of heavy equipment tires, track repairs, electric generator servicing, hydraulic repairs, snow plow repairs, pumps, motors, breaks systems (both mechanical and air), New Hampshire vehicle inspections, etc. Other duties will be assigned on a daily basis. The job will also require the successful applicant to do everyday activities within the Waste Water Division including pump station maintenance.
Personal Mechanics tools are required for this position, ability to work by one-self in a safe and efficient manner, while under the general direction of the shop foreman.

Our new Community Center is home to an 8-lane, 25-yard pool with an additional warm water therapy/lesson pool. We are looking for a passionate coach who is ready to lead our growing program. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: roster management, running practice for workout groups, writing practices, developing training plans and goals, attending coaches; meetings, communicating with parents/conduct parent meetings, some basic facility management/aquatics responsibilities, and working with professional staff as needed to develop additional programming or revenue areas. LIFEGUARDS

Parks & Recreation Department is seeking to fill the position(s) of Lifeguards. Life guarding responsibilities include monitoring participant's safety in the pool, maintenance of the pool, pool area, and locker rooms, maintaining records of pool usage, chemical testing and maintaining proper water balances in the pool.

The successful candidate must be a proficient swimmer. Prior lifeguard experience preferred but will train qualified individuals. The selected candidate must successfully pass pre-employment requirements of a physical, drug screening, and criminal background search.
Wages start at $7.25 per hour through $12.00 depending upon experience. Hours of work may vary depending upon the staffing needs of the department.
CERTIFICATIONS:
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (or equivalent)
