The City of Claremont is expanding its Information Technology Department. We are looking for someone to fill the Information Systems I Position. This computer savvy professional will assist the Network Administrator in managing 9+ servers and 100+ city wide computers. The selected candidate must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities, to maintain Microsoft Server and operating systems, an electronic archiving system, work closely with vendors, evaluate department needs for hardware, software and training and assist on various research projects. Responsibilities also include overseeing the City’s telephone system. Candidate must be able to communicate efficiently & effectively with management, staff and vendors, and work independently when necessary. A strong generalized knowledge of information management and considerable knowledge in TCP/IP networking and Microsoft software. Additional experience with GIS, Computer Assisted Dispatch, municipal and property appraisal software a plus.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering or Computer Information Systems with a minimum of five (5) years of extensive experience in varied computer applications, skill in training of basic Micorsoft programs; or any equivalent combination which demonstrates the possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

The City of Claremont has an immediate opening for a public works director. With a population of 13,300 citizens Claremont has all the amenities of a large city, yet maintained a strong sense of community and citizen connection to government. The City maintains an infrastructure of 126 miles of roads, 90 miles of water transmission lines and 70 miles of sewer lines. We contract out operations of our water and waste treatment plant. The Department of Public works provides maintenance and repair services of the City’s roads, sidewalks, signs, water and sewer lines, transfer station and city owned cemeteries. Oversees a budget of 7.3 million and a staff of 30.

The Director will be able to provide the high level of expertise needed to successfully implement the vision for the Public Works Department. This person must be highly organized, decisive and an innovative leader with superb interpersonal skills, judgment and integrity. Candidates must also be results-orientated and committed to providing leadership that will inspire, motivate and empower staff to achieve established goals.   

A bachelor’s degree with major study in Civil Engineering plus fifteen years of progressively responsible experience in areas directly related to highway construction and maintenance, municipal water and sewer systems, wastewater treatment plants and sanitary landfill with at least five years of progressively responsible management and supervisory experience or a combination which provides the required knowledge, skills and ability. City residence required within 18 months of hire.

Salary is up to $92,842 D.O.E., with a generous benefit package.

The City of Claremont is seeking an experienced minute taker for our Boards and Commission meetings. These meetings can be held during the day and some evenings. Parks & Recreation Department is seeking to fill the position(s) of Lifeguards. Life guarding responsibilities include monitoring participant's safety in the pool, maintenance of the pool, pool area, and locker rooms, maintaining records of pool usage, chemical testing and maintaining proper water balances in the pool.

The successful candidate must be a proficient swimmer. Prior lifeguard experience preferred but will train qualified individuals. The selected candidate must successfully pass pre-employment requirements of a physical, drug screening, and criminal background search.

Wages start at $7.25 per hour through $12.00 depending upon experience. Hours of work may vary depending upon the staffing needs of the department.

    • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (or equivalent)

Communications Specialists are responsible for dispatching information via radio, telephone and verbally to police, fire, emergency medical services, and other agencies responsible for the delivery of requested or required services.
