Parking Enforcement/Park Ranger ~ Seasonal Position

The Claremont Police Department is seeking applications for the seasonal position of Parking Enforcement/Park Ranger.

Responsibilities include patrolling city parks and the downtown areas of Claremont, enforcing citywide ordinances pertaining to human-powered equipment, enforcing parking ordinances and RSA’s, and identifying and reporting problem situations to the dispatch command center.  In addition, record keeping procedures such as recording and tracking ticket information, and assisting citizens of the community are also duties designated to this position.  The selected candidate should possess sound judgment and decision making skills, the ability to communicated and interact well, effectively, and efficiently with the public, as well as with other staff and agencies that are responsible for responding to the situation.  Hourly wages are up to $15.00 hourly based upon experience, skill, knowledge and ability.  Anticipated duration of employment is May through August annually.

Chief Assessor ~ Assessing Department

The City of Claremont, New Hampshire is seeking an experienced professional for the position of Chief Assessor, with emphasis on commercial appraising. Claremont a community of (approx.) 13,400 citizens and 5500 +/- parcels borders Vermont and is surrounded by the beauty of the mountains.

This position will be responsible for setting and defending property values for residential, commercial, and industrial properties. Knowledge of utility assessments is a plus but not required. Other responsibilities include managing the assessment and appraisal functions, maintaining the property tax list, maintaining and updating the GIS mapping system, providing appraisal support to the city administration staff, and educating and informing the citizens on the assessment process.  This position is appointed by the City Manager and reports directly to the City Manager.

Interested candidates should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, real estate, or related field with 5 years of relevant experience which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities, of the position.  In addition, DRA Certified Property Assessor Supervisor Approval, and Certified New Hampshire Assessor Designation required or attainable within the one year probationary period.  Candidates must possess proficient mathematic skills, communication skills (written & oral), and computer technology skills – familiarity with Vision CAMA System & ESRI Products a plus! The City of Claremont will be contracting with a firm to undertake a full re-evaluation in fiscal year 2019.

This is a position pays $81,237 enhanced with an excellent benefits package including, vacation time, sick time, personal time, health plan, dental, enrollment into the NH retirement system, 3 tax deferred opt. retirement plans, and more!

Lifeguards

Parks & Recreation Department is seeking to fill the position(s) of Lifeguards. Life guarding responsibilities include monitoring participant's safety in the pool, maintenance of the pool, pool area, and locker rooms, maintaining records of pool usage, chemical testing and maintaining proper water balances in the pool.
The successful candidate must be a proficient swimmer. Prior lifeguard experience preferred but will train qualified individuals. The selected candidate must successfully pass pre-employment requirements of a physical, drug screening, and criminal background search.
Wages start at $7.25 per hour through $15.00 depending upon experience. Hours of work may vary depending upon the staffing needs of the department.

CERTIFICATIONS:
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (or equivalent)
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer
