Voter Registrations and Elections
Registering to vote allows you to participate in the local, school, state and federal election process. The City of Claremont has three voting wards and the polls are open from 8:00AM to 7:00PM on Election Day.
City of Claremont Public Notice ~ Voter Registration & Correction
The Supervisors of the Checklist will be in session on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, from 7:00pm to 7:30pm in the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, for the purpose of registering new voters and making corrections to the voter checklist. This is the last day to register or make changes for the election being held on November 6, 2018.
VOTER REGISTRATION INFORMATION
WHERE AND WHEN DO I REGISTER TO VOTE?
- In person at the City Clerk’s Office, 58 Opera House Square, Monday-Friday 9:00am-12:30pm & 1:30pm-5:00, up to 10 days prior to an election.
- In person at a session of the Supervisors of the Checklist. Meeting information is posted in the newspaper prior to the session
- In person at the polling place on Election Day, 8:00am-7:00pm.
- Absentee registration is allowed for residents who are temporarily absent from the City (such as college student or overseas citizens) and residents who are physically disabled and unable to appear in person. Please contact the Clerk’s Office at 603-542-7003 for further information.
WHAT DOCUMENTATION DO I NEED FOR VOTER REGISTRATION?
- To Register to Vote, you must prove your identity/age, citizenship and residency. The following documents can be used for proof
TO PROVE IDENTITY/AGE:
- Driver’s License
- Birth Certificate
- Passport
- Government issued photo identification
- Qualified voter affidavit
TO PROVE CITIZENSHIP:
- Birth Certificate
- Passport
- Naturalization papers
- Qualified voter affidavit
TO PROVE RESIDENCY:
- Driver’s License with Claremont address printed on the front
- Vehicle Registration
- Current dated Rent Receipt, pay stub, utility bill
- Bank Statement

The City of Claremont is divided into three wards. To determine which ward you are in please refer to the Street Index
- Ward 1: Claremont Middle School – 107 South Street
- Ward 2: Claremont Middle School – 107 South Street
- Ward 3: Disnard Elementary School – 160 Hanover Street
