REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS

FIRE DEPARTMENT PUMPER/TANKER


The City of Claremont Fire Department is soliciting formal proposals for the purchase of one (1) 2019/20 Custom Built 2,000 Gallon Capacity/1500GPM Pumper/Tanker

Bids must be received no later than 2:00 P.M on Friday, September 13th, 2019 at the City Manager’s Office, 58 Opera House Square, Claremont, NH 03743, where they will be opened and read aloud.  Bids must be clearly marked “Fire Department Pumper/Tanker” on the outside of the sealed envelope.
 
Persons submitting proposals should note on the bid sheet any deviations from the specifications.  Persons submitting should also note any options not listed in the bid. Any recommended options should be priced separately.
    
The City of Claremont reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to accept the proposal to be in the City’s best interest.

NOTICE OF SOLICITATION OF BIDS

For Building Demolition at
139 Main Street and the Common Wall to 147 Main Street


The City of Claremont is soliciting firm fixed price bids for the complete demolition of 139 Main Street and the common wall to 147 Main Street.  Demolition will include but not be limited to (1) the complete demolition of the 139 Main Street building and the common wall, (2) the removal and disposal of the brick exterior walls, wood framing, debris, roof, interior walls, floors, contents, site debris and garbage, and (3) site restoration.  The owner of 147 Main Street will install structural shoring and/or bracing for its building prior to the commencement of demolition.  Interested bidders may request from the City: (a) drawings showing the temporary shoring conditions in the 147 Main Street building, and (b) a common wall agreement with the 147 Main Street property owner.  Coordination and notifications of adjacent property owners will be required in addition to maintaining safe pedestrian and vehicular traffic in the vicinity of the work site.

SCOPE OF WORK:
•    Verify electrical service disconnect.
•    Notify Dig Safe.
•    Provide site equipment and dump containers.
•    Provide adequate on-site dust control and erosion measures.
•    Saw-cut front and rear brick walls at or near the common wall as indicated in engineer’s report.
•    Demolish all above ground buildings and appurtenances of 139 Main Street, starting at the east end and working towards the west.
     o    Note:  All demolition work must be conducted from the exterior of 139 Main Street (no interior work).  It must be assumed that the building and the 8” brick common wall will collapse during demolition.
•    Remove all demolished building contents, garbage and debris from site.
•    Any and all building contents, if any, become the property of the contractor, with salvage value to be a consideration in the bid price.
•    Remove existing foundation to minimum two feet below grade.
•    Fill, grade, loam and seed all disturbed areas.  (Fill must be non-hazardous materials.)
     o    Note:  Fill of foundation to western property line cannot be completed until after reconstruction of a new eastern foundation wall for the 147 Main Street building (to be done under separate contract with the owner of 147 Main Street).
•    Maintain protection of adjacent structures, utilities and properties.
•    Maintain protection of vehicular traffic and pedestrians.
•    Contractor must ensure adequate access to adjacent properties.

Contractors will be responsible for all permits.  Bids must be received no later than 2:00 P.M on Thursday, September 5th 2019 at the City Manager’s Office, 58 Opera House Square, Claremont, NH 03743, where they will be opened and read aloud.  Bids must be clearly marked “139 Main Street & Common Wall Demolition”.  The City Manager reserves the right to waive defects in form and minor irregularities and to reject any or all bids as determined to be in the best interest of the City. 

The lowest responsive and responsible bidder will be required to sign a Standard Form of Agreement (form available upon request), provide proof of insurance in amounts acceptable to the City and list the City and the owner of 147 Main Street as additional insureds on insurance certificates. 

A 100% Performance Bond will be required prior to Contract Execution. All demolition activities shall comply with City, State and Federal laws, rules, regulations and ordinances. 

A mandatory on-site meeting will be held on Thursday, August 29th, 2019 at 9:00AM.  Those firms who attended the on-site meeting for the original Invitation to Bid will not be required to attend the meeting on August 29th.
