Claremont Opera House opens its 2011 season Saturday October 15, 2011 with Rob Zappulla and his big band. Zappulla’s tribute to Sinatra titled “Come Fly With Me” spans five decades of classic Sinatra from the days with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra to the Las Vegas show rooms. - CHILI COOK-OFF, APPLE PIE CONTEST, 5K ROAD RACE
Calling all chili chefs! Individuals, businesses and nonprofit organizations are invited to participate in the annual Chili Cook-Off, sponsored by the Claremont Parks and Recreation Department. This year’s event is once again part of the Fall Festival which will be held on October 1st. Please register by Wednesday, September 28th, to enter your chili.
Again this year, chili cooks will gather at the new Visitor Center Green, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The actual contest will begin at 11:00 a.m. “We anticipate a tremendous crowd of citizens and tourists sampling and voting for their favorite entry,” said Hausler. The sign at your table will indicate your chili’s name, group, and category (hot, medium, or mild).
The Claremont Fall Festival will include musical entertainment by The Flames, a road race and apple pie contest.
