The Claremont Fire Department is a full service department serving the city with full time staffing since 1917. A staff of twenty full time career (including EMTS and Paramedics) and fourteen paid call fire personnel provide the community a full array of services.

Fire Department Services include fire code compliance and fire safety inspections, fire prevention training, fire suppression, emergency medical care, technical rescue services and hazardous material control. The fire department is a State licensed non-transport ambulance service with paramedic level personnel supporting the city’s contracted ambulance service.

The 1917 brick fire station has been remarkably maintained and houses six modern pieces of fire and rescue apparatus. Approximately one thousand emergency responses annually are made by the department with nearly seventy percent of all calls showing fire department arrival within six minutes.

FIRE DEPARTMENT APPARATUS DIRECTORY

The Claremont Fire Department maintains a primary complement of three engines, one ladder, and one quint (combination ladder, pumper). The ideal shift manning allows for an immediate response of two engines and a ladder at any given time. Full coverage is reached through a system of rotating apparatus priority for various types of emergencies.

		ENGINE #1 is a 2006 Emergency One Cyclone, 1500 Gallon Per Minute Pump. Engine One carries 1,000 gallons of water and 1500 feet of four inch supply hose. Engine is fully equipped with multiple pre-connected hand-lines. Engine One is powered by a Cummins diesel engine. Engine One's assignment is First due to all building fires in the City limits.
		ENGINE #2 is the department’s tanker and wild land/urban interface pumper. This vehicle is all wheel drive, carries 1200 gallons of water, has a 30 gallon class A foam cell, a 1500 gallon portable water tank, a portable pump, and a 1000 gpm mid-ship fire pump
		ENGINE #3 is a 1989 Emergency One Hurricane, 1500 GPM pump. It carries 1,000 gallons of water and is powered by an 8V-92 turbocharged Detroit diesel. It is the Department's first due water supply and provides mutual aid to surrounding communities. Engine #3 is fully equipped with multiple pre-connected lines and 2,000 feet of 4" supply hose.
		LADDER #1 is a 2001 Emergency One “Quint”. Equipped with a 75’ aerial ladder with a pre-piped automatic water way, a 1500 gpm pump and 500 gallon plastic water tank. This vehicle also carries 1000’ of 4” supply hose and all applicable fire suppression equipment.
		LADDER #2 is a 1985 Emergency One Hurricane, 110 foot aerial ladder. It is part of the second due assignment and provides for rescue and vent capabilities within the hydrant district. Ladder 2 carries a full complement of ground ladders, power vents, vent saws and height rescue gear.
		RESCUE #1 is a 2000 Hackney rescue body on a HME SFO cab and chassis. It carries all of our medical and rescue equipment for vehicle extrication, confined space, heights and water rescue. Rescue is equipped with a light tower, cascade system, and a 25 KW PTO generator. It is used as a command post and for rehabilitation.
		COMMAND VEHICLE Fire Department command Vehicle is a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe 4X4 that carries applicable communications, suppression, command, and medical equipment.

The Claremont Fire Department also maintains a number of utility pieces of equipment for a variety of specialized purposes. Forestry trucks are used extensively throughout the drier seasons. The city-wide fire alarm system is maintained with the help of a 36' bucket truck. Our rescue boat is complemented by a rapid-response raft and two cold water rescue suits.
